Good To Be Here

Great reasons to be in the Philippines:

1.  Thanks to Laurel's reminder: no binder weeds to chase.
2.  No garbage to wheel to the curb each Wednesday.  Each night we put our garbage on the porch....dry garbage in one bag and wet garbage in a plastic container. The wet garbage is picked up  nightly by a little old lady to feed her pigs.
3. No lawn to mow.
4. No washing, ironing, or cleaning.  Sweet Sister Agustin comes each Monday and does all that.  She even helped us fix dinner last Monday night.
5. No bugs swarming around lights.  That is amazing to us. We would have thought otherwise.
6. No hand lotion needed.
7. No sleeping in Church allowed.  We are constantly being watched by the members.
8. Hugs are free and spontaneous.  Yesterday after Church a cute little sister asked if she "could embrace".  I didn't know her from Adam.
9.  No worries about being pulled over by the police for speeding, or running red lights or stop signs.  "No rules, no penalties." In fact, there are no traffic lights or stop signs.
10. No such thing as road rage. All the drivers are so patient and kind....even when your dad went the wrong way on a one way street!  Oops!

                              
11.  No confusion as to whose vehicle's turn it is to enter an intersection. The largest gets the right of way: buses first, cars next, jeepneys, tricycles third, then motor cycles, horses and carts, and lastly bikes and pedestrians.  But seeing past the buildings that are built right next to the sidewalks is the trick.  It's always a gamble to know what's coming: bus, car, or otherwise.  I can't sleep when your dad's driving.  All eyes are needed.

                         

12.  Constantly being on guard for questions coming our way during Church classes.  Supposedly we're to have answers and comments, even when everything is being taught and discussed in Tagalog.
